This recipe kicks off my “Halloween Edibles” blog series. Although these edibles are THC free, they do contain alcohol! Each year for my annual Haunt Party I make a variety of Jello-O shots and of course this year was no different. Prior to this year’s party I made a new extremely easy shot I call the “Blood Clot Jell-O Shot”. These shots have a delicious cinnamon taste, and in a word, party guests are begging for more next year! They were definitely a hit!

Ingredients/Supplies
- 4 cup measuring cup with pour spout
- Baking tray
- Wire wisk
- 2 oz. Plastic Cups With Lids
- 6 oz. box of cherry Jell-O mix
- Water
- Fireball Whiskey
- Black Food Coloring
Shot Preparation
First and foremost, I laid out twenty-four 2 oz. Plastic Cups With Lids but the number needed may vary depending on how much you fill the cups.
Blood Shot Mixture
Next, I added the cherry Jell-O mix to a 4 cup measuring cup with a pour spout. Although a medium size mixing bowl would work just as well, a container with a pour spout makes it easier to pour the mixture into the plastic cups.
I then poured 2 cups of boiling water over the mix and whisked until it had completely dissolved. In spite of boiling my water in a tea kettle, a regular pot would have also worked.
Once the mixture had dissolved, I added 1 cup of Fireball Whiskey followed by 1 cup of cold water, whisking this mixture to combine all the ingredients.
Next, I carefully poured the cherry Jell-O mixture into the plastic cups about 1/2 way full before placing them on the baking tray to transfer to the refrigerator for about an hour.
Clot Mixture
In the meantime, I added about 5 drops of Black Food Coloring. I then whisked this mixture until combined and allowed it to sit while the cherry Jell-O in the fridge was setting.
Creating Shot Layers
Once the red mixture in the cups had set, I pulled them out of the fridge and carefully poured the black mixture over the red, resulting in layers. Although you want to just barely cover the red layer, if you pour on more it’s okay. In spite of over filling this one a bit, the cups should be approximately 3/4 of the way full.
Setting the Jell-O Shots
Finally, I placed the lids on the cups and stuck them back in the refrigerator. It took about another hour for them to set so keep in mind, that you will want to make these ahead of time. Although they are best eaten within a few days, they can last 7-10 days.
