In 2017, my daughters and I set out on our first haunted road trip, visiting locations known for reported hauntings. I was drawn in by the history of these places and the countless stories of paranormal activity tied to them. At the time, I wasn’t a believer—only curious—but as our annual trips continued, we experienced moments that defied explanation and slowly shifted my perspective. What began as a journey across Kansas soon expanded into haunted travels through Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Through this series, I share the history, legends, and the unexplained experiences we’ve encountered across the Midwest—inviting you to follow along, and perhaps find yourself on the highway to haunts as well.
